I know I said I wasn't posting again until I return to Tanzania, which I plan to do mid-September. But I can't seem to stay away from Blogspot! Especially since I came home from Tanzania with a mild case of pneumonia, and I'm cooped up inside my house, hoping that if I rest I'll recover from this sooner. Although it's summer in Utah and so lovely outside...I won't be able to lay low much longer!
I didn't even know what widgets were before I set up this blog in February. Thanks, Loran http://manyriverstocross.blogspot.com/, for explaining it to me. I have recently added two of them, both in the right sidebar.
The first is a traffic feed display from Feedjit (which I copied from Loran's blog). It shows the location of readers visiting the blog for the last few days. Most of my readers are in the United States. Someone clicked in from Japan and someone from Switzerland. I have a few visitors in Tanzania and an occasional visitor from Australia.
The second widget is a bookshelf from Shelfari. I've stocked it with books I liked, mostly about Africa. Some are fiction set in African countries. Some are expatriate memoirs or travel memoirs. There are a couple of serious histories. A few of the books are more general, about how to travel or live in foreign countries, not specifically in Africa. If you enjoy my blog, I'm guessing you might enjoy some of these books. If you roll your cursor across the book, a pop-up window will display information about the book. If you click on the pop-up, you'll be linked to the Shelfari website and more information on the book.
This is a blog about my fifth trip to Tanzania, scheduled for March 2 through June 1. That's June 1, 2010. I actually stayed on into June, 2011. But I've been back in the U.S. for months, so this is now a blog about other stuff. If you'd like to read about Tanzania, check out the archives for February, 2010 through July, 2011. If you'd like to read about what I'm doing now, dive right in...
New Blog!
If you've enjoyed reading about my experiences in Tanzania here, check out the new blog I've started on Wordpress as of November, 2017. It's called "Back to Tanzania" and you can read it here. All new adventures in Tanzania from an older, wiser, more experienced expat.
I like the travel feed but when you see Lincoln City, OR it really is me in Newport, OR, 26 miles south of Lincoln City. This seems to happen all the time on these kinds of things even though Newport is the larger town, the county seat and has many more services. It is odd. --Diedre
ReplyDeleteDiedre, I wondered if that was you! Sometimes Idaho Falls shows up as Blackfoot, although today it says Idaho Falls. And I'm in Ogden, but it keeps showing up as West Jordan, although on some days there are a lot of Ogden hits. Who knows??
